A simple step-by-step checklist for creating a complete, trustworthy business listing that customers can actually use.
Putting your business online is not just about adding a name and phone number to a directory. A useful listing should answer the same questions a customer would ask before calling you: What does this business do? Where does it operate? Is it open? How can I contact it? And does the information look trustworthy?
Start with one accurate version of your business details
Before creating listings, write down the official version of your business name, phone number, website, address or service area, opening hours and main category. Use the same version everywhere. Small differences may look harmless, but they can confuse customers and make it harder to keep your information updated later.
Choose the right category
Select the category that best describes your main service. A dental clinic should not use a broad category such as “Health Business” if a more specific option is available. Specific categories help people understand what you offer quickly and make a listing more useful when someone searches by service.
Add contact and location information people can use
Include a working phone number, website and WhatsApp number if you use WhatsApp for customers. If people visit your location, use a precise address and check the map pin. If you travel to customers, describe your real service area instead of publishing an address that is not open to visitors.
Write a clear business description
A good description is short, specific and written for humans. Explain what you do, who you serve, the areas you cover and what makes your service useful. Avoid stuffing the description with repeated city names or exaggerated claims. Google’s own business-profile guidance recommends representing a business accurately and keeping information relevant to customers.
Use real photos
Add clear photos of your storefront, office, team, products or work where appropriate. Real images help people recognize the business and understand what to expect. Keep them well lit and current rather than relying only on logos or promotional graphics.
Check everything before publishing
Test the phone number, website link, map location and opening hours. Read the description once as if you were a customer seeing the company for the first time. If something is unclear, fix it before submitting.
Review your listing regularly
A listing is not a one-time task. Update it when your hours, phone number, website, address, services or ownership details change. A quarterly review is a practical habit for most small businesses.
Business Servi is designed around the same idea: accurate information first. If you want to add or claim a business, use the Claim Business option and submit the details you are authorized to represent.
